5/23/23 Messalonskee Starts Fast Against Lewiston

It only took 40 seconds for Messalonskee to get on the board as Brady Brunelle found a cutting Ryan Parent.

That started a 6-0 run that took only seven minutes for the Eagles to take control. Lewiston would only score six goals of their own in a 14-6 loss.

That 6-0 run featured an assist and four goals from Watler Fegel.

Fegel’s hat trick marked a career achievement, his 100th career goal.

Walter finished with a game high 5 goals and a game high 6 points.

Brock Rancourt was under fire all night in the Lewiston goal.

He finished with 18 saves against 14 goals allowed. It was only the third time in the 13 games the Blue Devils had surrendered double digit goals.

Across from Rancourt was Hunter Hallee in goal for Messalonskee, who has been the back up most of the season. Hallee wasn’t challenged early and looked uncomfortable early before settling in.

He finished with 9 saves to 6 goals given up.

Messo has now scored at least 10 goals in all but two games. Will Durkee added a hat trick and an assist and Brunelle had a goal and 4 assists. Six different players had an assist and eight players scored a goal, including defenseman Colby Chavarie.

Lewiston came in averaging almost 11 goals a game but scored a goal apiece in the first and third periods. Daven Langelier had a team high 2 goals and an assist. He tied with Kyle Graves who had a goal and 2 assists for three points also. Four players had an assist and five different players scored for the Blue Devils.

Messalonskee moves to 8-4 and travels to Hampden Academy.
Lewiston falls to 9-4 and hosts Oak Hill next Wednesday.
