5/11/2023 Messalonskee Puts Camden Hills Away Early

The 3rd-ranked Camden Hills Windjammers traveled to 4th-ranked Messalonskee and were immediately overwhelmed. It took only 35 seconds for the Eagles to get on the scoreboard as they scored the first nine goals in less than ten minutes on their way to a 15-2 win.

Madi Doody tied to lead all goal scorers with four, all coming in the first half. Eight different Eagles scored on the night with Abi Klinge adding two of her own.

Then Julia Wade took over the offensive load late in the first half and early in the second with four goals as well.

Abigail Stevens was coming off a five-goal game and finished with only one goal.

The Windjammers struggled to win faceoffs and have possession in the offensive zone. It was 9-0 before Bella Ward stopped the Messalonskee run.

They didn’t challenge goalie Shea Cassani much on the evening, but she was great when needed. Lila Hall had two penalty shots back-to-back and Cassani stuffed both of them.

Cassani finished with seven saves and two goals allowed.

Messalonskee moves to 7-3 and plays at Brunswick Saturday.
Camden Hills falls to 5-2 and plays at Erskine Academy Monday.
