Bryanna Barrett led the game off for Erskine Academy with a single but that was the only hit the Eagles would get off of Sage Reed. Reed struck out two batters to end the inning on her way to seven straight strikeouts.
Reed went the distance for a shut out with ten strikeouts, one hit and one walk in the 13-0 Lawrence win in five innings.
McKenzie Toner struggled on the mound for Erskine Academy. She had ten walks and six wild pitches. However, the Eagles’s was able to keep the game in check early.
Eventually those mistakes caught up to Erskine Academy as five walks and three hits in the fourth inning led to seven Bulldog runs. Lawrence added six more hits and four more runs in the fifth to end the game.
Reed also had a good day at the plate going 2-2 with a double, two walks, three runs scored and four RBI. Jazmin Johnson was 3-4 with two RBI and two runs scored. Batters 2-7 in the Bulldog lineup had all 12 of the hits, walked seven of the ten times, scored 11 of the 13 runs and had 10 RBI.
Lawrence moves to 7-2 and will be at Waterville on Friday.
Erskine Academy falls to 0-7 and will be at Lincoln Academy on Friday.
